The woman, known as Bonny, was an illegal domestic worker in Israel and was raped by police several days ago, the report said.

The police have since been accused of trying to cover up the incident, by not reporting it to the South African embassy.

Attempts to gain comment from the embassy in Israel have failed, SABC reported.
